Although today’s inspiration shoot from Olive Design House was created with a Winter wedding in mind, its rich fresh colour palette of mint green, navy blue, orange and lashings of gold is guaranteed to add warmth, as well as opulence and glamour, to any day whether blue skied or grey! Big on snazzy Art Deco style and packed full of details including a stylish stationery suite, a lavish tablescape, fabulously flapper-esque fashion, desserts dripping with gold…oh and a yummy looking mini Croquembouche! This speak-easy inspired wedding shoot is so deliciously decadent that Jay Gatsby himself would have been proud of the styling!

The classy speakeasy vibe of the historic venue, the Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville was the perfect setting for this modern take on an Art Deco wedding. I’ll pass you over to the talented ladies behind this gorgeous shoot Elizabeth of Olive Design House and photographer Courtney Bowlden, to tell you all about it…… “We wanted to pay homage to the era in which the venue was built and emphasize its amazing features like the crystal chandeliers, classic hardwood floors, oversized dark wood bar, roaring fireplaces and antique furniture. To complement the warm tones of the space, we used a fresh colour palette of elegant dark blues and minty greens, adding splashes of orange and gold to evoke some of the glitz and glamour of yesteryears.”
The decor and printed materials were designed and styled by Elizabeth to create a cohesive look. “It was important for us to ensure that design elements were echoed in the printed goods, decor and finer details. For example, for the envelope liner, we created a custom pattern with a repeating shape that is also found in the gold flatware and pedestal vases. The invitation was designed to evoke the 1920s through typefaces and accents. The RSVP card featuring an “aged” photo of the venue and resembling a vintage postcard was another way for us to infuse a playful and unique element that is reminiscent of the past. With the use of a modern color scheme and repetitive elements, all of the pieces worked seamlessly together hinting at history, while still remaining current and unique.
We created a casual yet charming ambience, using a collection of vintage books wrapped with twine, handmade decor pieces, and flowing floral designs created by Distinctive Design Florist  to set an elegant tone for the day. Unique bite sized treats dripping in details like gold frosting and hand painted flowers created by Janti Sun added a sweet finishing touch.”
Yep it really is that lovely, so have your pinning finger ready!
